Farthest Frontier is a very promising town-building game where you protect and guide your people as you forge a town from a dangerous untamed wilderness at the edge of the known world.
From harvesting raw materials, to hunting, fishing, and farming to survive, building a thriving homestead will be fraught with many challenges. Players will need to produce crafted items to trade, consume, equip and fight as they battle for survival against the elements and other threats.
Farthest Frontier has dozens of unique buildings to expand your town with and a deep farming system – right down to soil fertility and seasonal rotations – the depth of the game is vast.
You can choose to play on pacifist mode and avoid combat altogether or engage with varying levels of raider difficulty to raise the stakes for your town’s survival. Enemies you’ll face aren’t always raiders but also foreign armies seeking plunder.
You must ensure your villagers have clean water to stop outbreaks of dysentery and cholera while making sure they are properly clothed to reduce chances of contracting tetanus, rabies or frostbite is key to survival. Failure to manage their needs and secure food properly will see disease creep into your settlement.
Farthest Frontier offers fully customizable maps with randomized terrain generation and resource distribution. Players are free to control the amount of water or mountains they desire for extreme maps, leading to unique challenges.
The game is available now Steam Early Access for $29.99, and will remain so for 8-12 months, depending on how much the developers feel the need to alter gameplay systems or add to the scope of the game before we’re ready to call it finished.
“The core systems and features are currently working and there is 20+ hours of gameplay. Players start off with settlers in the wilderness and progress through 4 tiers of town-building and defense against raider incursions. We may elect to expand the game from here but all the features described in the “about” section are working in-game now, some just needing refinement to be considered release-ready.”
“Over the course of EA we plan to refine and polish the existing game as well as expanding the late-game with an additional tier of housing, more consumer goods and production buildings, and new ways to extend extraction of resources like stone, ore, etc, after initial sources have been depleted. Other ideas have been discussed and more may be revealed as we progress.”

- Advanced Town Simulation – Villagers actively live their lives and perform their jobs in real time.
